SIMPLE CARE

Keep Your Cutting Board Looking New

Thank you for purchasing one of MO Wood Design unique creations.  Your cutting board or serving tray is one of a kind, designed to last for a very long time with the proper care.  I only use top quality hardwood such as Maple, Walnut, Mahogany or Cherry and other exotic woods.   Each piece is finished with several coats of pure mineral oil and then coated with Mo Wood Design Cutting Board Conditioner

The conditioner is a natural blend of Organic Coconut Oil, 100% Mineral Oil and Natural Raw Bee's Wax. This treatment waterproofs the wood, enhances the natural color, the beauty of the grain and protects the surface from harmful bacteria making it 100% food safe.  Here are some simple instructions on how to keep your cutting surface clean and looking beautiful for many years to come.

  • Always clean your cutting board or service tray as soon as you can.

  • Do not let your board hold liquids for an extended period of time.

  • Do not soak in the sink!

  • NEVER wash in the dishwasher!

  • Rinse quickly with mild detergent and wipe off excess of water with a towel. Let air dry standing up.

Depending on the frequency of use and the environmental conditions, your board or your tray will need a little TLC once in a while.  If the surface starts looking scratched, dull or feels fuzzy to the touch it means that it has lost the waterproofing capacity and it may also became unsafe. No worries, a few steps will bring it back to the original shine!

You have two options:

  1. Bring it to me at one of the shows, as part of the Lifetime Resurfacing Warranty, I will refinish it free of charge and give it back to you the following week.

  2. Do it yourself following the instructions below.

  • Wash the board thoroughly with mild soap and warm water and let completely dry overnight.

  • Only if the wood feels fuzzy, with a piece of very fine sandpaper (250-400 grits), an equivalent sanding block or palm sander, rub the surface until it feels smooth again. This will only take a few minutes. You may want to do this outside because of the dust.

  • Wipe off any dust with a dry cloth.

  • Apply enough MO Wood Design Cutting Board Conditioner to the board until completed coated.

  • The easiest way is to apply with a cheap paint brush and let the board stand elevated over a couple of coffee cups. Let it sit overnight.

  • Buff the waxed surface with a clean piece of cloth and your cutting board will feel and look like new again.

  • Now you are ready to enjoy your cutting board  with friends and family for many years to come.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Resin inlayed cutting boards require a little more attention!

Resin is a glass-like material but, unlike glass, it can be scratched by the blade of a knife or a sharp object.

All my cutting boards have the resin inlays on the sides and away from the cutting area to avoid damage.

Resin can be polished and buffed back to original beauty but this fix requires a substantial amount of time and it is not  covered by the Lifetime Resurfacing Warranty   Cost of repair will depend on the severity of the damage and time involved.  By sending me detailed pictures of the damage I will be able to provide you with an estimate on the

repair.
